Photo Details

This Photograph was taken on the shores of Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies, late in the summer when the wildlife is actively collecting berries for the long winter months ahead. Lake Louise is a popular tourist destination with a beautiful lake and large hotel perched on its shore. However, the walk to the far end of the lake is well worth it to get away from the crowds and to see a wide array of wildlife that is often within touching distance close to the trail.

This particular creature, a chipmunk, was far more interested in its feast of wild juniper berries than me and allowed me to edge closer and closer to finally get this shot from a few feet away with a 200mm lens. This size of wildlife is often ignored when visiting Canada as people try and tick off large mammals such as bears, elk and moose. However, I think they are particularly photogenic and are a much safer bet for photographers with nervous dispositions!
