Taken in the late afternoon in mid-October this photograph across Barrisdale and Loch Hourn to Ben Sgritheall picks out the browns and oranges of the hills in autumn. Knoydart is a beautiful area at any time of year but autumn does bring something out in the vegetation and general hue and shadows of the landscape. There are a limited number of routes into these depths of Knoydart. I have only ever tested the route by foot along Loch Hourn from Kinlochhourn and although this is a beautiful walk I wouldn't recommend it if you have a heavy sack and the tops in mind, though it will be character building! If you can tie in your plans with the ferry from Mallaig or find someone willing to transport you by boat from Glenelg/Arnisdale or Kinlochhourn then go for it.
