Photo Details

The morning of 31st May 2005 was beautiful in the Cuillin. With a long journey home later in the day we set out early from the campsite at Sligachan to drive over the hill to Glen Brittle. Just after 5am we turned a corner in the Glen Brittle road and were presented with this stunning view of the northern section of the Cuillin ridge. From left to right the hills in the photo are Sgurr nan Gillean, Am Basteir, Bhasteir Tooth, Bruach na Frithe, Bidein Druim nan Ramh, Sgurr Mhadaidh, the outlying Sgurr Thuilm and on the far right of the photograph Sgurr Thormaid and Sgurr na Banachdich. After admiring the view we continued into the Glen and made for Sgurr na Banachdich ticking its main summit, southerly tops and Sgurr Thormaid. Cloud billowed up onto the ridge from the Coruisk side intermittently during the day but this just added to the atmosphere on the ridge, particularly amongst Banachdich's southern rocky pinnacles.
