Stac Pollaidh with a coating of fresh December snow. Photographer; Jason Bonniface.
Photo Description
Stac Pollaidh on a mid December day from the A835 following several hours of heavy snow brought in on a cold front from the north west. I was taking the very(!) scenic route home from Inverness and was caught in the snow leaving Inverness. The road past Loch Glascarnoch and over the Dirrie More had been a struggle and later in the afternoon negotiating the Moine peninsula near Tongue was very interesting indeed. After taking this photo I headed on to Stac Pollaidh taking Steely Suilven from the east top. Unfortunately I had to continue homeward and didn’t have time to negotiate the full summit ridge under snow, something I’d love to do sometime. Being so close to the west coast and only scraping 2000ft Stac Pollaidh doesn’t tend to hold snow for long.
