Suilven & Cul Mor on a stunning summers day from the north side of Stac Pollaidh. Photographer; Jason Bonniface.
Photo Description
From left to right, Suilven, Canisp and Cul Mor from the terraced northern slopes of Stac Pollaidh (sometimes anglicised to Stack Polly) on a warm, sunny July day. This is remote country in the heart of Assynt and illustrates its typical geomorphology with the land strewn with lochs and lochans in dips in the Lewissean Gneiss basement rocks and the towering island peaks made up of younger overlying Torridonian Sandstone capped by quartzites rising above. Over the last few years an excellent path has been constructed all the way around Stac Pollaidh providing a good circuit to combine with an ascent of the peak or as an alternative.
