Photos from the Cairngorm and Monadhliath areas of the central and eastern Highlands. The Cairngorms are Am Monadh Ruadh, The Red Hills, and the Monadhliath (Am Monadh Liath) are The Grey Hills. The Cairngorms are home to many of Britains highest hills, the countries most reliable ski area and are covered by the Cairngorm National Park. The Mondahliath consist of remote moorlands rising up to several 3000ft peaks. They are not as high or spectacular as the Cairngorms across Strath Spey, but nevertheless they are a wilderness that should have a high value in our highly populated mainland. Unfortunately the northern Monadhliath and adjoining moorlands are being rapidly blighted by the Scottish Government’s short term, environmentally disastrous wind farm policies. The fight is now on to save an area close to the heart of the Monadhliath at the Allt Duine site above Kincraig near Aviemore.
