Dunnet Beach on a December afternoon with the sun setting behind the Hill of Olrig, Castletown. This was a raw afternoon on the beach with a chill wind blowing, but what a view as the sun descended, the light picking out the spray from the waves and the contrast between wet and dry areas on the beach.
Dunnet Beach is a 3km stretch of sandy beach with large sand dunes behind giving plenty of scope for walking, exploring, surfing and fishing. There is a vistor centre and popular caravan site at the north end of the beach near the village of Dunnet and accomodation at the Northern Sands Hotel in Dunnet itself.
