Photo Description
This location looks like it could be in the Antarctic but it is actually only 25 miles from Edinburgh, taken on a perfect morning in early January. The view is looking north over the Ochil Hills to the mountains of the southern Highlands
This is the summit of Ben Cleuch (721m), the highest point in the Ochil Hills. The usual view from this picture is of the River Forth and the towns and villages that dot the landscape to the south. Behind the photographer, the landscape could not be much more of a contrast with the panorama stretching across the rolling summits of the Ochil Hills to the high hills of Breadalbane. A good account of the route to climb this hill and some pictures of how it looks in summer can be found on Undiscovered Scotland.
