Ben Klibreck Morning Mist. A view of Ben Klibreck from Glas-Choire Granda, Foinaven. Photographer; Jason Bonniface.
Photo Description
A beautiful October morning provided this view across northern Sutherland to Ben Klibreck from the mouth of Glas-Choire Granda on Foinaven, a misty morning haze lying over the moors. I was en-route for Foinaven’s summit Ganu Mor via its north east ridge. There is a quality scramble on Lewissean Gneiss on the north side of this ridge (Ganu Mor Slabs) which I had a look at but opted for an easier route at the edge of the slabs. The morning continued cold and bright and provided several other great photo opportunities with both the photos of A’ Cheir Ghorm and Lord Reay’s Seat taken this same day.
Ben Klibreck is the second most northerly Munro and lies in the midst of wild remote moorland in the centre of Sutherland above the remote village of Altnaharra. From the north it provides a shapely view. Its highest point Meall nan Con is quite conical when approached from the south west and whilst not the most exciting hill around provides a worthy view point over the whole of the far north.
