Photo Description
Ben Loyal and Moine House on the Moine (A’ Mhoine) peninsula between Tongue and Hope during a wintry February shower. The Moine peninsula is famous as the type area for the Moine rocks that cover much of the eastern side of the northern Highlands of Scotland to the east of the Moine Thrust, which itself lies just a few miles west of this location along the east side of Loch Eriboll. Moine House was built around 1830 as a halfway stop on the new road over the wild peninsula. There is interesting information about the Moine House at: http://cmy.iay.org.uk/moinehouse/moine.htm and more local information on the site.
