Foinaven wreathed in snow from Arkle. Photographer; Jason Bonniface.
Photo Description
Foinaven wreathed in snow during a period of wintry January weather. Taken from the south top of Arkle looking north, a series of heavy snow and hail showers were marching in from the North Atlantic, swept along by gusty winds that made standing and holding the camera steady almost impossible. This feat was made more tricky still by the skis strapped to my rucksack acting as sails! After this photo opportunity I headed for Arkle’s main summit from where I took Showers Departing. I descended from Arkle on ski via Coir Uairidh which was icey at first but lower the central gully was filled with old snow with a lovely fresh powder surface. This ski tour is described in more detail here.
